Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

by Andrew Loyd Webber and Tim Rice

In this retelling of the Biblical story, Joseph is a handsome young man who is his father's favorite child, able to interpret dreams, and the bearer of an amazing coat. These facts lead Joseph's eleven brothers to become insatiably jealous. Thus, they sell Joseph into slavery to some passing Ishmaelites. After refusing the advances of his owner's wife, Joseph is sent to jail. Once in jail, he quickly becomes popular due to his ability to interpret dreams. The Pharaoh soon hears of Joseph's ability and appoints him to the post of Number Two man in Egypt. Years later, Joseph's now starving brothers arrive in Egypt and ask Joseph, whom they don't recognize, for assistance. Joseph, in turn, gives his brothers a scare, but eventually grants them all they desire, reveals his identity, and reunites the family. Includes the famous tunes "Go, Go, Go Joseph" and "Any Dream Will Do." This musical is appropriate and fun for all ages.

Steel Magnolias

by Robert Harling

The action centers around Truvy's beauty parlor and some women who regularly gather there. The drama begins on the morning of Shelby's wedding to Jackson and covers events over the next three years, including Shelby's decision to have a child despite having Type 1 diabetes and the complications that result from the decision. We also get a glimpse of the unlikely friendship between Clairee and Ouiser; Annelle's transformation from a shy, anxious newcomer in town, to a partying woman, then to a religious fundamentalist; and Truvy's relationships with the men in her family. Although the main storyline involves Shelby, her mother, and Shelby's medical battles, the underlying group-friendship among all six women is prominent throughout the drama. Mark your Calendars, don't let this touching piece of theatre pass you by. Appropriate forages 12 and up.

Based on Mark Twain's 1884 novel "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," this astounding Broadway musical is a MUST SEE for the summer! While Huckleberry Finn continues his reckless, adventure-loving ways, his alcoholic and violent father, Pap, demands custody over the boy. Unable to prevent Pap from taking Huck, the Judge forces Huck to comply. Fearing for his life, Huck takes off on a raft down the Mississippi River. Along the way, he meets up with a runaway slave, Jim, who is trying to find his wife and children up North. Soon, Huck and Jim gain two new compatriots, the Duke and the King, who are really escaped convicts. After a series of adventures and reuniting with his best friend, Tom Sawyer, Huck discovers that Jim's slaveowner died and freed Jim in her will.
